Confucius Institute

The University of Massachusetts Confucius Institute is a non-profit, public institute that promotes the teaching and understanding of Chinese language and culture and supports Chinese language education in Massachusetts.

Enhanced Judicial Education

UMass and its allies work intensively with provincial judicial training colleges, legal and judicial educators and provincial high courts in China in support of the U.S. government's foreign policy interest in strengthening China's institutional judicial framework.

Massachusetts Technology Base at Tsinghua University

The technology base is a partnership between Tsinghua University and the University of Massachusetts and serves to market the University and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Hebei Province, and is designed to facilitate the provision of services and consultation for American companies operating in China and for Chinese companies doing business in Massachusetts.


Tsinghua University Academic Bridging Program

This program provides specialized, focused preparation in Beijing that then becomes a pathway to study at the University of Massachusetts. Currently the program has enrolled 80 Chinese students who are studying at UMass Boston. The program is expected to grow quickly, with a target of 200 such students a year.


Tsinghua University Distinguished Freshman Summer Program

The UMass China Institute will be hosting a student delegation from Tsinghua University for a three week tour of the University's campuses and the Commonwealth. These top performing students were selected by Tsinghua for the President's Scholarship, to give students an important international experience and a better understanding of the United States higher education system.
